The tapping technique was revived by Tarouemon XII (Muan), the father of Tarouemon XIII and a living national treasure. Tarouemon XIII brought a modern sense of beauty to the dynamic ko-karatsu revived by the tapping technique. Fish and patterns are carved and painted on it.
On the high stand is an engraved inscription, "April 25, Heisei 6 (1994), Tarouemon XIII.
Taroemon Nakazato 13th
1923 - 2009
Ceramic artist, member of the Japan Art Academy. Real name: Tadao Nakazato. Dharma name: Nakazato Aian. Born in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. President of the Japan Artisans Association, member of the International Academy of Ceramic Art. Eldest son of 12th generation Nakazato Tarouemon (Muan). His younger brothers Shigetoshi Nakazato and Takashi Nakazato are also potters.
