It has a tsuba-shaped rim with a four-footed reverse side. The eiraku mark on the high stand is a mixture of those of Shozen XV and Myozen XIV. The box inscription is by Shozen XV. It is thought to be a transitional period piece.

 

Zengoro Eiraku (Shozen Eiraku) the 15th

1880 - 1932

Nephew of Myozen the 14th. After Myozen's death, he was active as the 15th generation for about 5 years until 1932. During Myozen's lifetime, he was in charge of his work and went to Shigaraki in the first year of the Taisho era (1912). He received the name "Shozen" from Takeda Mokurai, the 4th generation master of Kenninji Temple.
