This jar was made by Yaichi Kusube in the style of a Chun ware style jar. The Chun ware kiln, also known as the Diaoyao kiln, is an ancient kiln in China's Henan Province that fired celadon porcelain with beautiful, cloudy colors and distinctive glazes. Celadon glazes from the Ding kiln were fired for a long period of time during the Northern Song, Jin, and Yuan dynasties. The clay used was iron-bearing clay, and molding was done thickly on a potter's wheel or by die-cutting. The characteristic feature of the Chun ware kiln lies in the glaze. Depending on the color tone, they are sometimes called "moon white glaze," "starch blue glaze," and so on.
