The phrase "big tree with deep roots" means that a tree with deep roots becomes a big tree. Kazumasa NAKAGAWA was a leading painter in the Japanese Western painting world, but he was also a versatile artist who produced calligraphy, ceramics, book design, essays, and poetry in addition to his paintings.
