It all started over 100 years ago when Tojiro Harumi, an Osaka-based tea ceremony and art dealer, imported Baccarat to Japan for the first time and placed a special order for tea ceremony and kaiseki vessels.
At the time, the idea of using glass vessels for tea ceremonies was ridiculed as heretical and foolhardy. However, Tojiro and Baccarat's craftsmen created stunning transparent teaware based on the same belief in constant challenge and new creations. Gradually, their creations came to be known and loved as Harumi's taste.
