This vase by Moriyoshi Saeki evokes a dreamlike forest at dusk, expressed through refined inlay and glaze techniques.

Born in Utsunomiya, Saeki recalls the windbreak forests scattered across the eastern outskirts of his hometown. During his daily travels between Utsunomiya and Kyūbu, he often witnessed the sunset filtering through the trees — a scene that left a lasting impression and later became a recurring theme in his work.

By blending colored clay and nuanced glazing, Saeki captures the nostalgic landscapes of his childhood — quiet, yet deeply resonant.

The subtly warped form and the Trees scene encircling the entire surface invite viewers into a contemplative moment.
