This set of 10 dishes replicates the Chinese Shonzui style, made by Seizen Eiraku, the 15th-generation Eiraku Zengorō. The sides are decorated in cobalt blue with birds perched on trees, bamboo, and pine. The rim is lobed like a flower and accented with iron glaze. At the center, a floral motif is delicately embossed in relief on the white porcelain ground.

 

 

Zengoro Eiraku (Shozen Eiraku) the 15th

1880 - 1932

Nephew of Myozen the 14th. After Myozen's death, he was active as the 15th generation for about 5 years until 1932. During Myozen's lifetime, he was in charge of his work and went to Shigaraki in the first year of the Taisho era (1912). He received the name "Shozen" from Takeda Mokurai, the 4th generation master of Kenninji Temple.
