This softly contoured, irregularly shaped dish is boldly decorated with a large depiction of an egret standing amid rolling waves. The design is rendered lightly and elegantly using iron-red enamel with pale green and blue accents, and together with the flowing wave patterns creates a refined and serene visual world imbued with a sense of nobility.
The figure of the egret skillfully balances realism and decorative abstraction, conveying a subtle sense of movement within an atmosphere of calm. A faint hairline crack is visible on the foot.
