This is a serene and poetic oil painting titled "Wildflowers" (No no Hana zu) by Kojiro Kosugi (b. 1944), one of the leading figures in contemporary Japanese Western-style painting (Yoga).
Born in Tokyo, Kojiro Kosugi grew up in a distinguished artistic family; his grandfather was the legendary painter Hoan Kosugi, and in his youth, he studied under the great master Kazumasa Nakagawa. While inheriting the traditions of French artistic movements from his time spent in Paris, Kosugi established a unique worldview that blends Eastern tranquility with a modern Western sensibility.
In this piece, a charming bouquet of simple yet lovely wildflowers stands gracefully against a muted green background. Within this minimalist and refined composition, the vivid vitality of the flowers coexists with a sense of nostalgic gentleness. The piece is signed "KOSUGI" in the lower right corner (Please note that there is no Tomo-seal / artist's label on the reverse).
The artwork is housed in a sophisticated dark wooden frame accented with a gold inner border, perfectly enhancing both the classical beauty and the modern ambiance of the painting. This exquisite piece will bring a sense of calm comfort and refined elegance to any space.
