6th Generation KIYOMIZU Rokubei / 6代 清水 六兵衛

1901 (Meiji 34) – 1980 (Shōwa 55)

The eldest son of the fifth-generation Rokubē. In 1945, he succeeded the family business of Kyoto Kiyomizu ware, adopting the name Rokushō. He innovated traditional Kiyomizu ware techniques by incorporating new glazes and firing methods. In 1956, he received the Imperial Academy Award for his work "Genkō Sōka Vase". In 1976, he was honored as a Cultural Contributor and was appointed a member of the Imperial Academy.
