2nd Generation Hyosaku SUZUKI / 2代 鈴木表朔

1905 (Meiji 38) – 1991 (Heisei 3)

Born in Kyoto. He studied the art of lacquerware under his father, Hyō Saku. In 1926 (Taisho 15), at the age of 21, he began his creative career after being selected for the Prince Shōtoku Commemorative Exhibition. He continued to exhibit his works at events such as the Kyoto Exhibition, the Imperial Exhibition, and the Ministry of Education Exhibition. In 1937 (Showa 12), he was awarded the Silver Prize at the Paris International Exposition. In 1978 (Showa 53), he participated in the Contemporary Craft Artists Exhibition and held a solo exhibition commemorating "50 Years with Lacquer." In 1981 (Showa 56), he held a solo exhibition at Kyoto Takashimaya in celebration of his 70th birthday.
