1890 (Meiji 23) – 1977 (Showa 52)
Born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, in 1890. Her real name was Torako. She was the second daughter of Yoshinao, the younger brother of the first Sozan, and was adopted by the first-generation Sozan at a young age. Under his guidance, she studied ceramic art and succeeded him as the second Sozan after his passing in 1922 (Taisho 11).
In 1924 (Taisho 13), she received a bronze prize at the 65th National Art Exhibition for her work Seieiji Sonshiki Vase. She continued to exhibit at events such as the Kyoto City Craft Exhibition and the Gojōkai Exhibition, receiving numerous awards. Her works were acquired by the Crown Prince and the Kuninomiya family.
In 1960 (Showa 35), she adopted Osamu, the second son of her younger brother Somei Yonezawa, and in 1970 (Showa 45), she passed on the Sozan name to him and retired as the second-generation head.
