After he became the governor of the family in 1967, his name was changed to "Kyuwa". It is a tea bowl in the late period.

It is inscribed "Wa(和)" on the side of the base.

Miwa Kyusetsu is the head of the Miwa Kiln, a Hagi pottery kiln in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The name of the artist has been passed down from generation to generation. Kyuwa participated in the Karahine-kai, a group organized by Kawakita Hanreiko. He became friends with his contemporaries Toyozo Arakawa and Touyou Kaneshige and porcelain, enjoyed the tea ceremony, and enhanced each other's pottery making spirit. 

 

Miwa Kyuwa (Miwa Kyusetsu, 10th)

Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Studied under his grandfather Setsuzan and father IX from the age of 15. In 1927, when his father retired, he succeeded to the name of Kyusetsu X. In 1967, he handed over the Miwa kiln to his younger brother (Kyusetsu XI) and took the name Kyuwa. In 1970, he was certified as the holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) "Hagi-yaki". In 1973, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette.
