SAKAIDA Kakiyemon, 13th

1906 - 1982

Born in Saga Prefecture, Sakaida Kakiemon succeeded in reproducing the muddy-te technique with his father, the 12th generation, and in 1955, the Kakiemon pottery technique was selected by the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Properties as an intangible cultural property that should be documented. Kakiemon has deepened exchanges with people from all walks of life, including Japanese painters, sculptors, theatrical actors, politicians, and businessmen, and has established new ground by incorporating new and unique designs.
