Fujio Koyama was a potter and a great scholar of Chinese ceramics. Kozanshi is his name as a potter. The name "Kawakujira" comes from the blackish color of the rim of the mouth, which resembles whale skin, and the whitish part below it, which resembles whale meat. From the box, we know that it was made in 1965 at the Nakazato Kiln in Karatsu.
