We are delighted to present an elegant pair of "Korin Makie Hirobuta," exquisite lacquer trays that encapsulate the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics. Both the large and small hirobuta (flat, ceremonial lacquer trays) are adorned with a graceful goshoguruma (court carriage) and momiji (maple leaves), symbolizing Japanese autumn, rendered with the refined techniques of makie (lacquer sprinkled with gold or silver powder) and raden (mother-of-pearl inlay).

The composition meticulously emulates the distinctive style of Ogata Korin, the revered founder of the Rinpa school, characterized by its sophisticated arrangement and refined color sensibility. The interplay of gold and silver makie with shimmering raden creates a breathtaking beauty that shifts with the light, harmonizing profoundly with the deep, lustrous lacquer ground. An inscription "Korin" is visible on the lower left of the interior, indicating that these pieces are a homage to Korin's artistic style, with the actual craftsman remaining anonymous.

As a natural consequence of their age, minor peeling is observed in some areas of the maple's raden and parts of the goshoguruma's lead inlay. However, these subtle imperfections are considered "scenery" (keshiki) in the appreciation of antique art, adding to their unique character and narrating their venerable history without detracting from their inherent elegance. These hirobuta, embodying the pinnacle of traditional craftsmanship, will undoubtedly grace any special setting, whether as decorative accents or for use in formal presentations and ceremonies.
