This vase is a copy by Sadamitsu Sugimoto of the Important Cultural Property "Iga Vase," inscribed Karatachi (owned by Hatakeyama Memorial Museum of Fine Arts). There is an episode in which a fragment of the mouth rim chipped during firing adhered to the body of this Iga vase, which was likened to the thorns of a karatachi, and was used as the inscription. The body of the vase shows evidence of peeling during or after firing. One of the ears has a thorn. On the lid of the box, there is an inscription by Daitokuji Daiki Roshi (1899 - 2005): "Karatachi-utsushi hanaire by Shigaraki Sadamitsu. On the bottom of the box is the signature of Sugimoto Sadamitsu, "Shigaraki Hanaire by Teragaito.
