The mizusashi is one of the utensils used in the tea ceremony. It is a container for water. In addition to being used for the tea ceremony, this work can also be enjoyed as a decorative piece.
The center of the body is painted with a rabbit in purple glaze. On the opposite side, a bird is painted with purple glaze. The inside of the water jar is also painted with blue glaze. There is a carving of "Dohei" inside the base. There is a tiny crack on the rim of the back side of the lid.
TSUBOSHIMA Dohei made his pottery at the Hironaga Kiln in Tsu, Mie Prefecture. He produced a wide range of styles, including Shino, Oribe, and Korean Karatsu, as well as Iroe and Sometsuke.

Born in Osaka, studied under Kawakita Hanroko in 1946, and succeeded to Hironaga Toen after Kawakita Hanroko's death in 1963. Held a solo exhibition at Takashimaya Department Store in Osaka, and later held solo exhibitions at Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
