This dish is decorated with white chrysanthemums and silver grass in gold. The upper right side of the dish is inscribed "Rokubei" and the reverse side is marked "清". KIYOMIZU Rokubei is the name of a Kiyomizu ware potter since the middle of the Edo period. Rokubei VI studied Japanese painting at the Kyoto Municipal College of Painting under Takeuchi Seiho and Yamamoto Shunkyo.

 

 

Rokubei KIYOMIZU  VI 

1901-1980 

The eldest son of Rokubei Shimizu V. He took over the family business of Kiyomizu ware in 1945. Awarded the Art Academy Prize in 1951 for his "Gengama Souzou Vase" and the Order of Cultural Merit in 1951. He is a member of the Art Academy.
