This exquisite set of five plates hails from the Ko-Imari ware tradition, flourishing during Japan's Edo Period, and features the highly prized sometsuke (blue-and-white) design. The deep, beautiful indigo blue depicts a sweeping seigaiha (wave) motif across the upper part, while elegant ducks are gracefully positioned below, frolicking by the water's edge.

Notably, one of the five plates showcases a charming artistic whimsy, featuring just a single duck, allowing for individual character within the cohesive set. These versatile plates are perfect for daily use, for adorning a special occasion table, or as a valuable addition to any collection.

As is characteristic of Ko-Imari ceramics, one plate exhibits a minor kiln flaw at the center of its footring, a mark from its firing process. Additionally, another plate has an ishihaze (a small stone burst from impurities in the clay) in its interior. These features are integral to the unique charm and history of antique pottery, bearing witness to their long journey.
