This refined set of plates was created by Kenkichi TOMIMOTO, a master of modern Japanese ceramics and a Living National Treasure. Executed in pristine white porcelain, each plate is decorated with vivid red overglaze and soft gosu (underglaze blue) calligraphy spelling “Fu-Ka-Setsu-Getsu” (Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon). The work beautifully embodies Tomimoto’s signature balance of serenity and playful elegance. His delicate brushwork and masterful use of negative space create a harmonious composition that is equally suited to everyday use and formal settings.
Based on the style of the “Tomi” mark impressed inside the foot rim, this set is believed to date to around 1957. All ten plates are free from noticeable chips or cracks and remain in excellent overall condition.
