The body is decorated with dragons, phoenixes, dingbats, and arabesques, and the lid is decorated with a hoshozu design of a kinbaku (a gold purse) and an uchide no kozuchi (a small hammer with a hammer protruding from the top). The lid is painted with a hozuki (a treasure trove of treasures) and a hammer. The back of the lid is inscribed "三冝菴 竹軒造" in underglaze blue.
Chikuken Miura
1900 – 1990
He was the youngest son of the first Chikusen Miura(*). His brother, the second Chikusen, passed away while young and his son was too young, he succeeded to the name (The third Chikusen) in 1921. After he yielded the position of the head of the family to the fourth generation in 1931, he continued his production with the go 'Chikken Miura'
(*)Chikusen Miura is a pottery and a family name of Kyo yaki (Kyoto style ceramic art, or kiyomizu-ware). The current head is the fifth generation.
