Rōnuki (Wax-Resist Decoration) / 蝋抜

This is a decorative technique in which patterns are drawn onto the surface of a ceramic piece using melted wax. When colored glaze or overglaze is applied over the entire surface, the waxed areas resist the glaze, leaving the underlying surface exposed and creating a design. This method is also referred to as rōbiki (wax application).
