Showa

D25.5cm H30cm

This piece is painted with small fish in bright red. This red part is called "Yuriko," a technique said to have been started in Jingdezhen during the Yuan dynasty in China. When displayed in a tokonoma (alcove) during the hot season, this piece is sure to bring coolness to the viewer. Yaichi Kusube was born in Kyoto, Japan, and was active from the Taisho to Showa periods. His style is known for its versatility and variety. His works are all of a high degree of perfection, and even if the techniques used are different, there is no variation in the quality of his work. He also devoted himself to teaching younger generations and trained many apprentices.
