This hanging scroll depicts a watermelon, an eggplant, and a grasshopper. The lower part of this paper has a few light black stains. Miwa Chosei was born in Niigata, Japan. She was introduced to Domoto Insho at his painting school, Tokaosha, and later married Domoto Insho's sister.

1901 - 1983
Born in Niigata Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto Municipal College of Painting (now Kyoto City University of Arts). Studied under Impression Domoto, and joined the Toigaoka Company. Haru-oka" (Spring Hill) and "Boat Building Dunes" were both awarded special prizes at the Teiten Exhibition in 1931 and 1934, respectively. After the war, he was active in the Nitten Exhibition and was awarded the Art Academy Prize in 1937 for "Shuzumebashira" (Red Pillar). He excelled in flower-and-bird and landscape paintings with vivid colors.
