The body is painted with a hollyhock design on the fine kan-iri base. The hoya(cover) is made of sterling silver and also has a hollyhock design through it. It was made by Ikkakusai. His real name is Tomijiro Nagata, and he is said to be one of the goldsmiths who were active in Nagoya during the Meiji period (1868-1912).On the back of the lid of the box, there are signatures of Ikkakusai  and a certificate by Toyozo Arakawa, a living national treasure and a representative Mino ceramic artist of the Showa period. There is crack on the base of the bottom.
